The project focused on modernizing the lab’s online presence and strengthening its role as a resource for students, educators, makers, researchers, and professionals working with digital fabrication and open-source design.

My role in the project

I was comissioned to redesign and develop its new website using open-source technologies. My work combined web design, information architecture, and front-end development to create a clearer and more accessible digital platform.

The Challenge

Evolve the old website into a modern Maker-inspired website

The challenge was to bring together the lab’s diverse educational programs, research activities, resources, and facilities within a coherent online experience. The website needed to communicate the lab’s work and make the information easy to discover to encourage visitors to explore its projects and opportunities.

The Solution

I designed and developed a website built around simplicity, clarity, and intuitive navigation. Clean typography, vibrant colors, and imagery helped establish a distinctive visual identity, while a structured menu and clearly organized sections made the lab’s activities and resources easier to explore. Built on open-source technologies, this initial version established a foundation for the modernization of Fab Lab Barcelona’s digital presence.
